µoled 96 prop

Hi,
I have buyed currently the µOLED 96 PROP, yesterday I built two versions of a RS232 to TX-RX interfaces. One of them is the interface described in µOLED 96 G1 manual the other one is the interface (with a MAX232)·which is published in the propeller ·manual (the simple one with 2 transistors). All two don´t work, is it possible that the µOLED 96 PROP·do not react on this interfaces and I need a prop plug ?· The propeller development tool do not found the µOLED 96 PROP·on COM1. The µOLED 96 PROP·shows the demonstration program in a loop.·If I shorten the reset with ground the µOLED 96 PROP·doesn´t reset. The voltage of the interface is on 3.3V, produced by the µOLED 96 PROP. The voltage supply is 5V produced by an 78L05 chip.
Please has anyone an idea what is going wrong, is the µOLED 96 PROP·damaged, especially the reset line ?

Best regards
Christopher

I don't have this device but I think that reset is for the Prop only and whatever it displays on the initail screen is not video generated by the Prop. If it is, then your Prop has a damaged reset line or the BOEn is not properly connected. I however doubt this because I have made many Prop programmers on my own I believe it is a proplem with your programmer. There is a 3 transistor programmer on the "Propeller Chip" page under "Schematics and Images" that has worked for me but I had to build it twice and it worked on the third time. Be paitient and check your wireing carfully and make sure you are not getting any "noise" on the lines. If the wires leading to your Prop are long (10ft.) this could be the culprit.

I'm a little unsure of the interface you are using (RS-232 or USB from the PC). You mention the 2 transistor circuit, which I can't find in the Propeller Manual, and the Prop Plug, which is USB to RS-232. The interface circuit to the 96-G1 probably would not work as there is no Propeller on that device.

Since you mention COM1, maybe you are using RS-232 from the PC. In that case, try this circuit:

    Good Luck,

    Thank you for the answer,
perhaps the reset line needs a pullup resistor to +5V or +3.3 V, in the RS232 design, which I used the DTR line which occurs the reset has no connection to +5V or 3.3V. Is this possible a error ?

The uOLED-96-PROP should work with a PropPlug or the 3-transistor circuit shown on the Propeller diagrams webpage. I've used both of them. The MAX232 interface should also work. The reset line does not need a pullup since there's an active pullup in the Propeller chip.

Are you using an RS232 port on your computer or a USB to serial adapter? Not all USB to serial adapters will work for programming because they don't properly implement DTR.

    Hi,

thanks a lot for the answers, I used the RS232 with the MAX-IC it doesn´t work. If I shorten the reset pin with the GND Line the propeller in µOLED 96 doesn´t reset. I build an other propeller board with a RS232- 3 transistor solution some times ago, this unit works without troubles.

Is a defective reset line a possiblity ? If yes I hope I can sent the OLEd Prop unit retour to the manufacture.

    Thanks

It's always possible that there's a defect. It's unlikely though. It's more likely that there's something wrong with what you've made. E-mail 4D Systems or the company where you bought the uOLED-96-Prop.

Hello again with the same problem,
I built the 3 transistor RS232 interface, the reset pin is every time at 0V, the RS232 looks that it works but the propeller tool means that no contact to the processor is possible.· My opinion is that the internal pullup resistor is defect.
