As for the original question, here is my strategy:

    - Keep using SX chips for some projects as they will be around for awhile.
    - Use the propeller when I have the space for a large chip or doing a more aggressive project. At $8 bucks a chip, this thing is really powerful. I'm really getting addicted to this multiprocessing concept as well as the video output.

My main problem with the propeller for very simple and small projects is that it requires an EEPROM and is that the prop is large in DIP form. If I need to make a square wave or some simple task for serial I/O it looks like an 8-pin PICAXE will fill the void for those very basic and simple projects. It is limited and slow, however.

Overall, though, I'll stick to Parallax chips whenever possible because of the superior support and the helpful user community.

You guys could probably use an update from us on our SX inventory levels, so we can take another guess at how long the supply will last.

Overall, I think we did a fair to good job (no internal back-slapping, though) letting our high-volume users know that we've hit EOL because we're still selling and nobody is in a panic. The last of these chips are finally dribbling in from Taiwan, however.

If I have a chance early next week I'll get together an inventory snapshot for everybody.

    - Ken
