Bean--

How will the SX EOL announcement affect your SX/B development?

Thanks.

    Bill,
    That is up to Parallax. They are funding it. But in my mind it doesn't make much sense to continue development for a processor that is EOL.
    I'm sure support and bug fixes will be provided until all the SX's are gone, but further development is senseless.

    SX/B 2.0 is pretty good, and except for bug fixes, I hadn't planned any additions anyway.

    Bean.

    Does that byte of memory hold "A", 65, $41 or %01000001 ?
    Yes it does...

    SX may be EOL, but I suspect we'll actually have chips for a long time.

    Bean and I will need to talk about SX/B at some point pretty soon to figure out the future of the compiler. I'm sure that Jonny Mac and a bunch of customers wouldn't like to see it go away, so I imagine it will always be available but perhaps it won't evolve anymore.

    If Bean chose to do a PBASIC => Spin compiler for the Propeller that could be really interesting.

    Bean and Ken--

    Bean, I certainly understand. You did a magnificent job.

    Ken, if Bean did a PBASIC --> Spin compiler that WOULD be interesting, to say the very least.

    I'd say SX/B 2 is better than pretty good.
    The only things missing are wordarrays, but these are easily implemented
    using two subroutines. See attachement.

    For once PV and I agree! tongue.gif -- SX/B is far better that "pretty good." Even with the OEL I have a new EFX-TEK product on my desk that uses the SX and I'm coding it in SX/B. Thanks to Parallax, EOL does not mean end-of-availability.
