Is it possible: Color detection with IR sensor?

I have a question, is it possible to detect certain colors with an infared sensor?· If it is possible how do I do it?

    Infrared sensors are sensitive to infrared illumination and not to visible light. To use a sensor for color detection, it needs to be sensitive to the wavelengths of those colors. So the short answer is no, an IR sensor will not work for color detection in the visible spectrum.
