No definately not. I taught engineers and programmers for ICL under contract around Australia and New Zealand in the 70's and 80's. I designed a lot of hardware for this computer over the years for ICL and their customers. This included PCBs that plugged into their card cage which permitted a customer to have 140+ remote terminals online at any one time. A friend of mine wrote the latest Assembler used around the world (and by ICL) to replace ICL's Assembler.

This way, we'll never get explanations or answers from mallred or Dr. Jim in this thread.
    So please, step aside ...

You can call them stupid, greedy, ignorant, or whatever. They are not going to divulge their IP, and if I were going to start
a business, with the hopes of making money, I would not divulge IP either. For the products that are available, they seem
to have the pertinent information, and a decision can be made as whether you find it to expensive, in which case, you do not
have to buy. So, going under the guise of technical is not going to get you any closer.

Since I am interested in robotics, I find Dr. Jim's products more in line with what I would need, then some of the other products
that are being offered here, even if it is being sold for $30 plus S&H. If it does not fit my needs, or the project, I will not buy it.
Since they have a Website, and an Email system, I would probably use that system for more detail.

There are plenty of members here that have used this forum for there product announcements, and they use the bottom of
there posts as an advertisement board. So, I do not find Machine Intelligence out of line with their form of PR. What I do find
out of line is the web etiquette that is being practiced here, but that is just me.

@Rsadeika, our problem with MIT isn't that they won't tell us how their stuff works, it's that they won't tell us what their stuff does.· When they announced the KISS OS several people asked basic questions which went unanswered.· It's as if a car dealer came in and promised that for only $80,000 he could fix us up with absolutely the best set of wheels anywhere, but then refused to tell us what kind of fuel it uses, how much it weighs, how much it can carry or haul, or how fast it can go.· Maybe it's worth $80,000 because it gets 200 MPG or goes 1,000 miles on an electric charge or it can tow the Queen Mary.· Even if one of those things is true, if you don't tell us which one you can't expect anyone to be impressed.

My impression of MIT is that they are hawking a fairly pedestrian line of homemade prop stuff for which they are charging ridiculous prices justified by extremely dubious promises about its likely future capability with regard to AI.· When they are asked specific questions about why their expensive wares are a better platform for such software than other more inexpensive, readily available, and powerful hardware their explanations do not make sense either in terms of hardware capability or, worse, information theory.

And that, basically, is why people complain about them.

My post (now four pages back) about the lack of contact information was based on the link provided on the first page (to the blog).

    Their address is:

    588 CR 315
    Stockdale, TX 78160

Presuming it's a valid address (no reason to doubt it), what does the first line mean? Google and I are in the same boat, we don't know. It's not an attack on MIT, just a gap in my knowledge.

And, in the interest of openness, their phone number is (830) 947-3003, based on whois

Hold on let me pop some more popcorn for this thread...

I feel like these guys are doing more of a social experiment then anything revolutionary or technical... They post these little snippets of "information", mention some AI buzzwords, keep mentioning mainframes (for some reason), and then watch the forum fireworks.

In some marketing minds, "any exposure at all" is good especially if it makes big headlines.
Continuing to respond to these posts whether you like the OP's topic or not, bolsters their market.

that really is only true if your products are good or cheap enough that people will spend it to see what the hipe is about(harry potter being perfect example where bad press made millions). The second is not the case for MIT and if the first is then MIT will indeed change the world as we know it. I am still hoping there claims are true. obviously not willing to put my money into it without evidence.
