I was looking into motion sensors and was Curious as to what type of electronic sensor part is used in this type of motion sensor?

Also does stamp have any books related to motion sensors, diodes, and other electronic parts?

The sensor you showed is similar to the PIR motion sensor sold by Parallax. Yours includes a transmitter of some sort that probably signals a central alarm system.

Parallax does not have any books on motion sensors or electronics parts. A good starting place for that would be the Wikipedia. Do a web search for what you want and the word "wiki" (like "diode wiki").

Parallax does have a lot of tutorials and other introductory materials on things more directly related to microcontrollers and robots.

Go to Parallax's main webpage and click on the Resources tab and you'll get a list of links. Click on Downloads, then Stamps in Class Downloads. You'll get an index of the tutorials. Browse the other Resources pages for other things.

    You may find this interesting:

It's a short description of mounting and using a Parallax PIR sensor.

Motion sensors are best only in big establishments.
