bad aftermarket Nintendo controllers

Did anyone have any problems trying to connect the aftermarket Nintendo controllers that came with their Hydra? I bought a Hydra kit a few months back from Fry's Electronics. They plugs would not fit into the sockets on the board. I ended up visiting the local swap meet to pick up some old school originals which work fine.

I tried emailing support about getting replacements but nobody answered me.

Thanks,
Jeff

    The connectors for the controllers, for whatever reason, are very stiff out of the box. This is a known issue; inserting and removing the controller a few times usually does the trick (but put something like a book under the system PCB so you don't snap the board.)

    they were seriously too hard to insert. i already tried your suggestion. I really felt like I was going to break something, so i bought original ones instead. inserting standard nintendo controllers was a piece of cake. is that because the original controllers were old and worn? will i have this same problem if i bought new controllers?

    these aftermarket ones are kinda of cheap anyway.

    Again, it's normal. You have to push pretty hard to get them in there. Indeed, the older controllers if nothing else are made of old plastic which has undoubtedly softened over time.

    @gonzobrains,

    I had the same experience - but BFI (Brute Force and Ignorance) soon sorted it out.

    Once I'd applied brute force and ignorance to mine, I left the controller connected. I never unplug it, just wrap the cable around the PCB when I put it away.
