Cheaper Props

I was pricing out a new project and noticed a drop from $12 to $8.
33% cheaper ... way to go Parallax!!!
This makes using the propeller in just about any project a lot easier to justify ... and conversely makes using a slightly cheaper conventional micro a lot less likely to happen.
At least for me.

propmod_us and propmod_1x1 are in stock. Only $30. PCB available for $5
Want to make projects and have Gadget Gangster sell them for you? propmod-us_ps_sd and propmod-1x1 are now available for use in your Gadget Gangster Projects.
Need to upload large images or movies for use in the forum. you can do so at uploader.propmodule.com for free.
Since the propeller is 8 processors in one then at $8 that makes it about $2 per processor.
That in my book is WORTH IT......but even more importantly is the fact that if you actually
had 8 processors and you wanted to communicate them you would have a HARD time and a
SLOW process. With the propeller the fact that the 8 cogs can share RAM and can communicate
via common memory with EASY contention resolution is THE MOST BEAUTIFUL aspect of the propeller.
I see a lot of people on this forum RIGHTLY raving about the Keyboard, TV, VGA etc abilities
which is almost impossible to parallel with MOST other processor. However, what makes the
propeller stand out way above any processor I have ever seen or used is the Parallel Processing ability.

On a serious note, comparing even some of the simpliest 8-bit pics to ONE of the processors in the Propeller... Each processor in the Propeller is cheaper, and generally more powerful. I'd like to see a SINGLE 32-bit processor for $1 or less.
Consider the Propeller "buying in bulk" when it comes to processors.
Forgot to add the EEPROM, the ADC/DAC, subtract one COG for serial, one for I2C/SPI ...

Never use force, just go for a bigger hammer!

And no one compares 8 bit cpu's with 32 bit ones. Apples and Oranges. It would more accurate to compare a Prop Cog with say a ARM, Coldfire or SH-1 and see how they stack up.
oops.....my old age is clearly starting to take its toll....those damn numeric keys are just too close to each other
and my fat fingers miss....but also my eyesight is getting even worse and my gray cells are getting even lesser.....so wasting time
double checking my typing is just too much work especially when you do not have many minutes left in your life span.
$8/8 = $1· I checked my calculator and that is definitely the correct answer.....but I could not type the $ sign....it is a cheap one.
Thanks for the catch....
I agree totally......and also how many have built in Sin/Log/Font tables and video/vga support and 32K RAM????
Aaah.....i forgot to add.....built in support for an HLL that is one of the most beautiful to come out for a micrcontroller...SPIN
