Hi i have a boebot with a bs2 px and when i use the 7.5v 1 A power supply from parallax, the chip get quite warm, sometimes too hot to touch, but it's still functioning, is this normal, or should i be using a different power supply?

Typically the BOE-Bot is not run from a wall supply so it usually isn’t an issue. On the BOE the BASIC Stamp runs from Vin, so 7.5 is more voltage than the on-board regulator normally sees when running from batteries (6V). It is just dissipating more heat but you are well within recommended voltages so no problem. Take care.

Chris - that's helpful for me to know as well. If I ever find a chip that gets hotter than body temperature I start to freak out! And if I ever feel a chip that's too hot to touch, then I'm SURE I've messed SOMETHING up... but you're saying it's OK for these stamps to run that hot?

    Thanks for the confirmation!

I have measured the BS2px running at 126 degrees before. Any hotter than that and I might be concerned.
