I made a little desktop HAL 9000 that is motion activated using a PIR and BS2.

Step by step instructions are here:

Hey admins, if you delete this post, like you did about the garage monitor I posted last week please leave a reply and tell me why you are deleting it.

Thanks for looking.

Video of HAL in action: www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4AxFioJnYQ

It doesn't talk, that's just for effect.

Could you please post your instructions here? It is not easy to access the site you mentioned, from this location and internet speed. Appears to be an interesting project! What does the magnifying glass do?

I attached all the instructions as a PDF.

The glass is a lens off of one of those cheapy dyno action LED lights, it was broken, and it made the led look more like HAL from the the movie.

    Thanks for looking.

    Cool Joe,

    I love stuff like this.

Maybe for version 2, you could have a MIC and Speaker respond to any sound.

"Open the POD bay doors, HAL"
    "I'm sorry Dave..."

    :)

Couldn't help notice the Lost in Space Robot next to HAL... ever looked on the net for how many robotic nut jobs (that includes me) have built one of these full scale? (I've not) ... maybe you need a speaker in that one too that says "Danger Will Robinson!"

Thanks for the explanation Chris, I didn't see it in the BS2 forums.

Good idea about the sound, anyone know how to do that?

I think Robbie the Robot is one of the coolest looking robots. The forbidden planet is a great movie.
