Hi.

What is the different between servo and serial servo.

Is it the because the way the servo is connect each other?

    Serial servos like used in the RoboNova Bioloid robot use a serial data string to know what to do. Many can be controlled off the same line as each one has it's own address.

    A typical servo use a pulse width to determine which way it should point. The length of the pulse varies from about 1.000 milliseconds to 2.000 milliseconds with 1.500 milliseconds being the center (really, 1.520 is the common center setting). This pulse is sent every 20 milliseconds, AKA 50 hz.

    * the Hitec RoboNova servos use the HMI protocol. Apparently, they accept conventional OR serial control but documentation is lacking. Bioloid is well documented.
