    I think mctrivia and CRP are messing with your head, although Gadget Gangster is having their School Days Contest with which you can use a Propeller (see the Boss Board).

    Do you mean that you are interested in learning to spell the word "apparently" or that it is apparent that you are interested in learning to spell? wink.gif

    I'm curious as well about a 2009 competition.

    lol Rich

    Well I was poking fun at the prior post in which I spelt actually - actaully. Now it seems I am interested in how to use punctuation correctly, so that my sentances are not ambiguous!

    Go to the parallax website, click the resources tab at the top, then click the contests link on the sidebar. On that page there should be a button that says "Click to see current contests" Click it. It will then bring you to a page that has Info on the 2009 Propeller contest. Click the "click here to enter".-- Proccessing Data...

    Gothcha...Link to enter contest does not work.

    Try:

    http://www.parallax.com/tabid/603/Default.aspx· without the"See" at the end, that might of gotten into a copy/paste by mistake

    that worked for me.

    @Vaati,

    Talk with KenG about this.. Perhaps they can let your parent accept the finanical responsibilty for your winnings.
    I can't imagine that you would be left out in some way. Parallax is simply too cool for that.

    @Others

    I was feeling far too intimidated last year to make my entry official. I won't make that mistake this year.

    Vaati and company (i.e., those under 18 years of age),

    If you asked us where the "under 18" rule came from we probably couldn't tell you. I think it's a rule I wrote in the past after reviewing contest rules elsewhere, and now it's sticking around. I'll look into it and see if we can do away with this rule. For now just enter under your parent's name.

    You don't have any helpful family lawyers in close proximity, do you? If so, just keep the fact that you can enter our contest as a 14 year-old to yourself.

    Lauren will report back after we find out what the 18 rule is all about.

    To those 18 and under,

    Lauren will be revising the rules so that you may participate in the contest.

    Last year we did not allow submitals from people under 18, but we received some as groups or under their parent's names. We had to deal with some phone calls from parents AND even an attorney. I'll be as straightforward as possible in my next statement, and I'll see that the rules reflect our intent. If you are under 18 and you wish to participate in this contest, take responsibility over your involvement. We do not want to talk to parents if they approach us with accusations, and we especially do not want to talk to your family attorney about your involvement. We are comfortable explaining to your parents what the contest is about, but DO NOT allow your attorney to put us in a position of defending our rules. Perhaps there are very good legal reasons why those under 18 are generally not permitted to participate in contests (likely because of gambling laws or taxation - not sure). We recognize the importance of our products to students and their futures, and that careers are often formed from positive experiences at this age - a concept we aim to support. So we'll accept a risk and open up the contest to those under 18. A parental consent form will be required.

    Liability has far too much influence in business decisions. If we based all decisions on potential liability there would be no products, no customers, and no contests (and no UAV or medical customer applications). I'd like to think that we can be flexible in our decision making process and weigh the risks, favoring our customers along the way. While we realize you can't control your parents, we'll still be basing our future contest rules on experiences that we encounter in this contest; the rules could be forever changed to exclude 18 year-olds.

    And to end on a positive note, compete to win! Show some of the experienced engineers on this forum what you can do by winning this contest!
