My Nuts & Volts was in the mailbox this morning.

Jon Williams has done a great job on another fine Propeller
article. It also looks like "the SPINzone" will be a regular
column!

Yes, I just read it online and am looking forward to future columns. I like how he hasn't shied away from the assembler side of things at this early stage.

Jonny Mac will make a nice addition to the Propeller crew on the forums, especially for the BASIC Stamp crowd. He's got a couple of really good traits:

    - lots of experience with other Parallax BASIC Stamp/SX products so he will understand the reasoning behind some questions
    - ability to put his ideas into prose for N&V magazine (who generously allows us to post the columns on the 'net for you!)
    - active participation on these forums
    - understands the big picture well by fully coding/designing prior to writing anything

And of course he's a friend of mine. I've known Jonny Mac since the mid-90's when he was a huge participant in the Dallas Personal Robotics Group and an active actor in Texas. Now he's in Hollywood. . .but he still has time for us.

@OBC: Ken and I talked and decided that it was time for the column -- which has been around for a long time -- to change. Funny that nobody complained that the last two years were devoted to SX and SX/B projects under the article banner, "Stamp Applications." Our thought, though, is that there is a large group of readers who are "regular guys" (beer drinking, fun loving) like Ken and me that would appreciate and benefit from material that was somewhere between the starter material from Andy (and his excellent education department) and the gurus like Chip and Beau and Mike and Phil and... well, you know the crew.

So, that's my goal: to help the hardcore Stamp users and perhaps a few SX/B programmers make the transition to the Propeller. As ever, I appreciate the kind words and encouragement. Hollywood can be cruel! ;) Okay, back to the September column (4-channel recording "waldo" for servos).

PS: If you have the Showtime movie channel you can catch me in "The Night of the White Pants" with [two-time Oscar nominee] Tom Wilkinson and Frances Fisher. I'm the somewhat flustered hotel clerk. It's playing now and available on Showtime on Demand. And, yes, as a member of SAG I get residuals so watch often and tell your friends!
