Hey all,

As mentioned in the UPEW thread, we hosted·a raffle at Parallax on Saturday afternoon. The prizes were donated by many fine folks:

Mountain King Technologies
Bill Henning
SchmartBoard
Parallax
OBC
Ole Man Earl
WBA Consulting
Joe Grand
Terry Hitt
Gadget Gangster

There were more·donations from other folks·and I didn't take notes of their names or company, but they can reply to this thread with a "hey, I donated too!"

Anyway, we sold $932 worth of raffle tickets. Parallax matched the donation dollar for dollar and rounded it up to $2,000 total.·The excitement around this raffle was·really high·since the kids ran the·prize distribution. And they were funny, too :) Everybody felt really positive about helping out the Red Cross.

A sloppy copy of the check is attached below. Today we will send it to the Red Cross.

Thanks to everybody who bought tickets and donated prizes.

Sincerely,

Ken Gracey

No big deal. Our motivation was matched by your enthusiasm. We had a bit of a "donation inferno" when we all got together!

If you think this is inspirational, did you know that Ole Man Earl spent 3 months in Banda Aceh, Indonesia after the tsunami? That's right - he was installing new wireless internet communication gear on donated time. The only reason he came back is because he got some kind of misquito-borne disease and he had to board a US Navy ship to get better in their hospital. Maybe he'll chime in and tell us the whole story. He didn't complain about eating rice for several months either.

    Actually, I know smile.gif

I spent quite a bit of time chatting with Earl, he is a character and a great guy. Had a lot of fun listening to some of his stories.

Did you know he STILL climbs 70' radio towers????
