need some help with software please

Hi
on of the board of ed. usb starter kits
i have installed the stamp that was included loaded the software on my computer
write a small program
hit run and my computer finds the com port
and continues to look for more and stays in a loop
can any one help me out?
i have uninstalled and reinstalled it
