Well, my module matches OBC's diagram perfectly... I will check propDOS and see if it's a problem with that....

Okay, so I need a schematic of a connection with an LED for the card inserted.... I think that the one from ucontroller has an LED, but I can't find an exact schematic of it, just the one with the connections and the resistors... Is anyone who has an SD adapter from ucontroller able to tell what the LED is connected to...?
Thanks.

Also, I need some files to load to my SD card for propDOS.... What do I need to get started...?

I did check for shorts to the SD case. There's no continuity from the case to the pins, or between pins. The code is the standard test routines from the FAT16 object. I'm at a loss. Maybe I need to start debugging the Prop Demo Board. I'm not sure that I've actually used all of P0-P3 before. Thanks for you help. -- Win
There is a no-go area under the microSD sockets I use. This means there can be no metal/copper) under certain parts of the socket because they may make contact.
Particularly, the moving part of the card inserted detection on uSD can touch copper underneath. This could at least be the problem with the LED circuit that has been solved/

Thanks to everyone! I got my SD running and loaded the full screen editor, femto, and a few hmu's on it and run them all off of propdos! Then, I am able to select one of 3 OS's for the prop! One question for OBC--Can propdos run .bas files...? I can't seem to be able to....
Also, I put the etch_n_scetch.bin file on the SD, and I take it you can't return from a binary file other than another OS besides pressing the reset button...?
Thanks.

Hmm....· So is femtobasic able to run .bas files...?· I have tried that, but it doesn't seem to work properly...
Also, I would like to make the attached file into a sort of "app" for propDOS. By that I mean to make it so the picture you draw can be saved (this would require something like the full screen editor, where there are 20 or so .bmp files just named untitled[insert file number here] and can be renamed and saved) and later viewed with the PSM TV Bmp Viewer.· Do you know if that's possible...?· I think I would end up having to make the etch and sketch into a mini OS of it's own...
Thanks.

So after a few months, I finally got back to this problem. Parallax had their mini SD card board (including a card) on sale, so I bought one thinking that I had made some horrible soldering mistake in one of the two boards I built. Wired it up on my prop demo board, loaded the fsrw test code and it still didn't work. So, I should have done this earlier, but I wired all the pins used for the SD board to LEDs and it turns out pin 2 on my demo board is bad. So I followed the traces and did continuity checks and it appeared the pin wasn't soldered properly. So I pressed it tight to the board and ran the LED test again and it worked. Wired the SD board back up and it didn't work. Tested the pin again and it wasn't working, so I tried touching the soldering iron tip to the pin and board. Still doesn't work and I haven't been able to make it work again. So I shifted the SD pins to use 3-7 and and changed the basepin in the software, and finally, it worked. I hate to think the number of hours spent on this because of a faulty pin on a new prop demo board. Very frustrating.
Anyway, one more question...the only way the SD test code works is when I load to eeprom and power down the board, then power it back up. When it powers up, it runs the test code. If I then press reset or try to reload the code in RAM or eeprom, it won't run unless I switch the board off then back on. Is this normal?

yes,...that's the only way it will go into the socket. I don't have an LED to bypass, so that can't be my problem either.
One down, one to go... Can we get some pictures of your setup so we can look it over?

pull your resistors and the extra ground so that it matches my diagram and tell us what happens.
BTW, I spy a mini-dvd player.. Have you modded it for video-in yet? :)

Mount
-41
That's what I was getting before (sometimes -13). I believe -41 is a timeout error.
Yes, that's a modded Mini DVD with both video and audio. Works pretty well and it was cheap!
Or is it standard Femtobasic or Propdos?

If that's not it, it must be a code issue...

I never designed Propdos to run .bas files directly.
There is an interesting "near" solution to that on this page. (among other interesting toys.)
