The UAV platform the AutoProp8 autopilot's future home is almost done ! Seance I don't know how to fly RC, I hope the propeller has more smarts than me. I hope to bring this 7 foot monster to the Expo West.
Good thing I put 2 electronics bays in, there is a LOT of stuff to put in.
Earl

VERY COOL, Earl! I'd love to be able to go to the expo for nothing else but this alone! Keep us all posted.

    Earl,

I've actually seen the real stealth bomber in flight - you need to paint that baby flat black. (Then again, maybe that'll through off the aerodynamics !)

I am trying to find a way to get it to the Expo West. I am flying so I need to ship it. Shipping box will weigh more than plane!

Don't feel bad guys ! The pink foam and the hot glue sticks cost MAYBE $20. I'll just build a new one after the Expo.
    I HAD to bring it....right ?
    Mmmmm..many improvements too....

    @Earl,

You've obviously never heard of Aerogami - the ancient Japanese art of plane folding!

    Stop It Earl !!!

I have a flying wing partly built with DX6i and all components (no prop chip). While I was assembling it I found the prop chip and it didn't get finished (too distracted). Now you have a flying wing and Prop together. :-(

Well, maybe this will solve my learn to fly lessons smile.gif Previously I never quite mastered the landings - well I should really say never quite got to that point :-(
I did however, master the art of take-offs and repairs.

Great job. Look forward to seeing some flying photos/video. smile.gif

    Earl,

Come to UPEW and bring that plane with you. Have it configured for R/C flight so we can see that it works properly under human control. I think we can get you off the ground. I imagine you could work on it Saturday night and·get a few of the sensors functioning to have an assisted flight (it hasn't flown, right?) Sunday morning. I haven't followed all of your posts on this project but I can see you've got quite the Prop board on the back of the plane.

There will be a few other autopilots here, including Dean Goedde's AttoPilot (www.attopilot.com) and RubrChickn's attempt, too. Dean is miles ahead of all of us, but that'll be the inspiration we need.

It's usually not very windy here, at least not like in the desert plains in NM. We have a big, open area behind the building for UAVs and R/C airplanes.

    See you soon!

Damn. I'm on the Eeeast coast...... :-(
At some point I'm planning on dropping a glider from a balloon (yes, it's been done before). Alas, it isn't going to get me to Cali.
Looks cool, keep the rest of us posted.
