Ross I was looking through my docs that came with the 512k card and I found the schematic for the cable but I am not sure I understand what can we do with the cable connected? and where does it connect? to the 512K card?
I am assuming it is J2 the connector at the top left of the card but what can be done with this connection?
I guess I am asking why would I want to connect to the card what would I be able to do with it??
    Thanks

    Hi mikediv,

The cable connects to the 10 pins at the top left of the HX512. It is used to reprogram the firmware on the Xtreme card. That firmware implements the addressing scheme used on the card, and by reprogramming it you can do many things - including get random access to the entire 512K (for a version that does this, see this thread). With the original firmware, you only get random access to the first 64K, and have to use sequential access to read or write to the remainder. This was by design, given that Andre probably thought the card would get most use as an external video buffer. But now people are using the card in other applications.

    Ross.

Ross thank you very much .. it makes sense now to be honest I have not really done anything with my card but would be interested in using it as continuous prop ram
