Measuring Code Overhead

Hi

New, very new to all this.

I'm making my way through the Boe-Bot kit and manual. Very interesting, and having a ball at it.

I notice that it has in several places times for code overhead, but does not mention how the numbers are reached. I'm guessing that is because it is not possible to duplicate it with the components in the kit. But...

I would like to be able to measure my own code overhead, and would guess a timing chip and crystal would be needed to do so. Any suggestions or resources on how to deal with an issue like this?

Thx and have a great w/e!

For the BS2 it's mostly a case of estimating how long the code takes and running with that. I suppose you could toggle a pin on either side of a block of commands, and time how long that takes (a Propeller would work for that) but that is probably overkill.
