I guess after 3 pages it's time for a new thread. If you wish to reference what this thread is based upon you may go to:
http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=809164·· and:
http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=808848

Attached is one of the things I have been thinking about. If it was included with the other library type functions in the prev. threads then I could see it as being quite useful.

I effed it up when saving so you can run it by loading the design code in the project. (VB)

I know. it sux. thats what the "I effed it up when saving so you can run it by loading the design code in the project." was all about

but, I was able to run it loading just the code from the designer file. It doesnt do anything, it is just a front end of a utility I think would be handy. I don't have the chops to make it do all the stuff it should do, but I know there are ppl here that could probably do it in 30 minutes (maybe more?)
I just felt that Visual Studio wld be the quickest place to draw it, then have a usable shell afterwards. But I screwed the usable shell part up, so you at least get a pic that can be redrawn in ten minutes.

Looks nice. Kind of a state script generator. What other application ideas do you have?

Pretty much just what I described previously.
A large library with mini "objects" all the way to what is currently understood as an object(all w/as much doc. as possible), in the left hand window/s of an IDE like the prop tool, that could be clicked on, then it would be automatically loaded into the code portion of the screen. The companion documentation of each "object" would describe the type of tie in code blocks that would be required to tie it in to a certain class of object. Perhaps the tie in blocks would also be in a toolbar style window that could be pinned to various locations, eventually having icons and reduceable to a strip.
There would have to be rules for each "object" and tie block created so that whoever wrote it would do a proper job. Hopefully everything would be reviewed, before it was added, by someone from a group of individuals rated as qualified to do so.

Jazzed,
You mentioned having some GUI tools in that you are working on. Would you mind saying what they are and where you think they should/could go

@BH,

I started working on a VB-like PropGUI Maker with the goal of producing Spin or other code you could plug in to your Propeller application. A preview of the PropGui Maker tool is attached. I've also included some LCD demo snapshots of the type of GUI widgets that could be created in Spin. A video of the GUI in action·available at www.youtube.com/watch?v=YalcMqkdHEU

Nice work, Steve!

A GUI always seems to be the the next to the last thing·to mature in·a big project. (The last thing, of course, is humanly readable documentation :))

Just curious... what are you writting it in?

thanks for your efforts

Thanks guys ... and BH for prodding it out of me :)

The video is of the SFE $14.99 Nokia LCD taken from my webcam.
There is a youtube video which apparently no one has seen yet ... www.youtube.com/watch?v=YalcMqkdHEU

The PC application is written with Visual C# Express 2008.
I need to integrate a "code producer" with the tool.
I'll share the Spin GUI widget code later under MIT license of course.

Development is on hold until I finish my PropXMM-D40 C demo.
When I get back to it seriously, I'll give it a unique thread.

I would really like to sell the PC application in various markets for a moderate price.
I'm not working. I have to find some kind of income.
How much do you suppose something like this is worth per license ?

That's pretty slick.

I don't know exactly where to price it, but in a professional mkt it could save a bunch of time, plus it makes the app look good. Things that do that are worth the dollars they save. If it does something that can't be done, or is very difficult w/o it, then it is worth even more. For non industrial use it shld be under 50 dollars.

You can add my utility to it if you kick me down w/a copy.

Thanks BH.

I was thinking $40 would be a fair trade on the development effort required and the benefit obtained per customer.
Of course some kind of limited demo mode would be required.

It seems to me your timing tool should be part of a bigger suite of Propeller specific code generators for robotics, etc....
The idea is good for prepackaging tools for users who don't care to be too deep in the technology.
I always liked the idea of a web connected robot that could be "programmed by anyone" with limits of course.
