Transistor Curve tracer kit for oscilloscope ????

Hey guys I don't know if anyone remembers a long time ago in one of the electronics magazines they had an article on building your own curve trace transistor/diode tester you attached it to your oscilloscopes
X,Y inputs and it would show you a simple curve on your scope screen so you could test transistors or diodes . For the life of me I can not find a simple circuit I bought a book

"build your own electronics workshop" just because it showed a how to circuit but no matter what I can not get it to work , Does anyone have a simple DIY circuit they could share with me.
I just want to be able to see the output curves on my scope when testing transistors.
I had built the one in popular electronics years ago and it worked perfect but I no longer have the schematic I really miss it now that I am back playing with electronics.
It was really simple it was just a 12 volt AC transformer, a diode or 2 a few resistors and some caps that was all there was to it of course you needed an oscilloscope
.
if you do a search for the book I listed you can see the article and drawing I am talking about they even show the scope curve traces I don't know why it will not work it looks so simple but I have rebuilt it so many times
with no luck, it would be awesome if there was a transistor tester for the stamp or prop chip we could build.

Duhn-da-nah! Looks like a job for the Propeller!

You could always make a DAC with the prop, and use this to apply different voltage to the device, and then make an ADC to measure the current through the device. This way, you get an I-V curve, which -I think- is what you are after. Is that right, Mike?

Sorry Phil I was away for a few days ,, yes you are correct and I would love to do it with a prop but I am just not that good at programing yet , I have a few adc0834 chips so if you are volunteering to help!
    LOL
No serious if you can help I would love to give it a try and share the outcome with everyone. It just drives me crazy y though because that old circuit was so simple 12V AC transformer, 2 resistors a few caps and a diode and of course the BNC probes but that was all it was I wish I could find the old print to share with you,

Try Google -- the circuits there are a little more complicated than a "12V AC transformer, 2 resistors a few caps and a diode," but they will let you test more.
