PIR sensor without basic stamp?

This may be a stupid question, but can you use the PIR sensor without the basic stamp? (i.e. as a switch/transistor)

I want to simply wire it in to a circut board so that when it detects motion, an alarm will sound.

You can use the PIR sensor without a microcontroller.· If you connect 5 volts, ground, and an LED to the output pin of the PIR sensor, you'll see the LED light up every time it is triggered.
