Bluetooth serial adapter problem BS2 BOE

Have a BS2 sitting on a serial Board of Education. Works flawlessly. I am using Stamp Editor 2.4.

I want to replace the serial cable with a Firefly Bluetooth transceiver. This: http://www.gridconnect.com/blueport.html

The connection doesn't work. It seems that the transceiver introduces a propagation delay, and Stamp Editor times out while trying to connect.

Questions:
1. Has anyone used the Firefly and made it work?
2. Is there any way to relax the timeout in Stamp Editor? A command line argument perhaps?

The command line arguments for the Stamp Editor are limited, though you can force it to use a set COM port. Maybe that is the answer -- check the manual.
