I have set aside a few terabytes of space on my web server so people can upload large pictures and videos of there parallax projects.

uploader.propmodule.com to upload your files.

uploads.propmodule.com to see files people have uploaded.

The site will generate the code to insert into the forum for pictures.

Thank you for providing this. Previously, my only alternate method was to email the video to myself, log in to my university CS department though a terminal, download the video to my home drive, place it in the hosting folder and change the permissions, then remember the address where it's stored at. Plus, CS undergrads get only 300 MB of space for everything...

Back to your service, a couple of thoughts. First, you should provide some sort of method to delete the videos uploaded (via the uploader). Secondly, should you ever decide to stop this service, a notice to the uploaders would be nice, as would a redirect to something like "This site no longer available".

Anyway, thanks for making this possible.

I do plan to add more features. like having usernames tied to the upload so you can delete. currently it is a quick upload system I threw together in 5min.

If you post first and you pm me at a later date you wanted deleted i will do so.

I have over 1000TB of space and a multi gigabit internet connection. I will probably never stop the service unless it is getting abused for illegal activities.

I just added a login page. No need to register. it just checks the password works on this forum then any file you upload has your username attached to it. This way I can later add delete option in.

I have rented room in a massive server farm. I am just one of many people using the farm so some times speeds get slow on the processing side(though it has not stopped me from doing some pretty high number crunching sites see aigamez.com I have an AI ludo player I wrote on there.). The up side is practically limitless hard drive space. There only request is that I use the space mainly for public use. They do not want me uploading my local hard drive contents for backup(1.5TB and ticking)

If you need high speed access to the san drive I have seen 80+TB SAN servers available.

Mctrivia - you are doing some cool stuff for the community, thank you! I am curious, why doesn't YouTube or a similar type of site work for uploading Propeller Video's too? What is the advantages of what you are providing?

I would love to build a 1PB array at home and it is getting more reasonable to do it with 1TB hard drives so cheap now. would still cost about $200,000 though to build the system and I have no where near that kind of money.

Parts List:
Hard Drives: 1040x 1TB Drives
SAN Servers: 26x x810's
Switch: 1x 32 port 10gigabit switch
Racks: going to need several depending on high x810 is 8RU

Space: 1014TB


Of course there would be a huge bottleneck at the switch if you did it that way. But for your own uses do you need more then 10GB per second data access rate?

I have no limit on bandwidth. So no worries on size of upload or how many view it. The beauty of having the server farm in the same building as the telephone companies main office.\

As far as I know video files can not be used to hack a server. WMV files can contain viruses so you should be careful in downloading files of that format. JPG, PNG, AVI are all safe.

I have moved the upload script to its own sub domain http://uploader.propmodule.com/ the old address redirects to here still.

You need to also accept PDF files. I use PDF's a lot for documentation, for they cross OS boundaries easy.

If anyone is curious here is the code for the site. MIT license applies though not in code.

If anyone sees a weakness please tell me though since I keep no data other then the file itself I do not see how there would be a problem.

I don't know anything about online security, but .exe might be a good add. Also, there are a couple more BS2 formats (.bse comes to mind). You may want to include a spreadsheet format too, as well as a presentation format (powerpoint...) .html might be a valid upload choice, but that might lead people to create their own subdomain website on your server...
