Thanks. I've been pretty happy with 1.2.5... I think all the major problems have been worked out already. Glad to see new updates though.

Wow. Bookmarks in the manual! I don't believe it. I see your taking some wind out of my sails... Still, I think I like my bookmarks better!

So far, with 1.2.6 I'm able to run it in Vista without compatibility mode. With 1.2.5 I had to run it in XP SP2 compatibility mode.

I do not use PropTool anymore. It let me down. After 2 years of (no waiting because I use BST, on Mac OSX) it does not offer anything new. Look at what Brad or mpark for that matter got in much less time and not being paid for to do!, and multi-platform. I know nothing was promised but It did not even work well in the only platform it supported! :-(

Sorry.

Ale

Thanks Jeff. The information updates are appreciated!

Man, you Parallax guys are getting downright HIP! Twitter, web-meetings (I can't stand the word webinar), snazzy news letter, U-Tube... Nice.

(This might give me a reason to use Twitter)

Just got done checking out the updated PDF. Excellent!! Thanks a bunch. This reference is very significantly improved in both clarity and usability. When programming in assembly language, I had setup a list of instructions where I could just go click on them to pick up some info. The book marks, truth tables, and our friend the octothorpe gets proper treatment in this edition! (literals)

Very nicely done, and right when I've a week off to play too! Double sweet!

Not intentional, of course.· Just trying to improve it as we go.·Your excellent example of what could have been done in the pdf was a big help! :)

Thanks! I really like the new documentation!

If I could mention 2 things I noticed:

- In the quick reference assembly section, it would be nice if REV was documented as reversing the lower *32-N* bits, as that is different from the SPIN version (which reverses the lower N bits, as you would expect), and it's caught me at least twice [8^)

- I really like that in the manual there is now example code for multiplication and division and square root. For the square root, it might be nice to use the (much faster) version that chip came up with and posted in the forums a while back, on the off chance that someone wants to use that code verbatim in their projects. The post is quoted below:

Here's the smaller version (now 'mask' is a register containing $40000000 which gets used directly and rotated all the way back to its original value):
mov root,#0 'reset root
:loop or root, mask 'set trial bit
cmpsub input, root wc 'subtract root from input if fits
sumnc root, mask 'cancel trial bit, set root bit if fit
shr root,#1 'shift root down
ror mask,#2 wc 'shift mask down (wraps on last iteration)
if_nc jmp #:loop 'loop until mask restored

Looks great.
Just one problem I seem to be having. If I select "PE Kit - Examples" in the folder drop down, it goes to the folder under PropTool1.2.6\Examples\PE Kit but only shows one file, the PDF. If I go to "Show All Folder" there are all the code folders there along with all the other folders in the world. How do I get the code folders to show up when I just go to the Examples? The "PE Kit" folder doesn't show it has any subfolders (no + to click).

Thanks.
Rich.

If you click on the small button as shown in the attached image
you will be able to see the subfolders under the Example folder.

Thanks Phil, that's the "Show All Folders" button. But how do they get to the point of showing the "Examples" and "PE Kit" folders. If I do that under show all, go to one of those subdirectories and open a file, that dir will then show up when "Show All" is off. If I go to the dir under show all and do not open a file, disable show all, that dir is gone again. Oh well, that's all that seems to annoy me, I can live with it.

Hi lonesock,

Thanks, I'm glad to hear that.· You made a good point.· I'll make that update.

Funny, I was unaware of this variation.· Thanks!· I'll include that as well.

To RichK and phil kenny,

Thanks for your input; this is one of the things that will be enhanced soon since the current version doesn't treat it as well as it could.· Currently, the list of folders that appear are those of the last 10 files opened.· The enhancements will include all the installed example folders (by default) as well as any favorite folders the user specifies.

Jeff:

Is the Quick Reference available outside the Propeller Tool exe? I don't see it on the Propeller Downloads page. Your non-Windows customers can't get at it in an exe.

Thanks!
