Hello, My name is Forrest and I'm new around here.· I recently built a r/c gas powered "push" lawnmower and am expanding my experimentation to see if I can set it up to run autonomously.

I bought a USB Basic Stamp Discovery Kit from Parallax and an unopened·Serial Boe Bot kit on eBay (80 bucks!)

I am trying to build a "buried fence" and am wondering if any of you have suggestions or can point me to a website where this has been done.·· I am intending to use the basic stamp to control the lawnmower but need to set boundaries that will keep it out of the flowerbed and off of the patio.

Thanks,
Forrest

There were a couple of good designs when Googling for 'buried fence circuits'

Someone I know who was designing something similar using a PIC energised the wire with a signal from an oscillator and detected the signal with a simple receiver that was connected to a PIC input.
