FTDI drivers on Vista using Windows Update: Good Idea?

Was·testing out a circuit of mine that uses an FT232RL chip for USB on several PCs yesterday...
One of them was Vista x64 that didn't have the drivers installed.
When I plugged it in, Vista offered to look for a driver itself, so I let it.· It found one, installed it, and it seemed to work fine.· At least, the Prop tool recognized the Prop chip.
But, the Parallax documents I've seen say not to do stuff like this.· But, I think they predated Vista...
Anybody know if there's some problem with the Windows Update FTDI drivers on Vista?
