Serial to USB Help

I am just getting into microcontrolers and i just purchased the Boe-Bot serial edition. I am using the serial to usb adapter and i cannot get my computer to register the virtual com ports. I have installed the drivers numerous times and cannot get it to show up in my device manager. When i try to identify my com ports in the BASIC Stamp Editor it gives me the error message, "No serial ports found."

If it helps my OS is: Windows Vista Home Premium

Also i have tested the board on another computer using just the serial cable and it works fine.

Make sure you have a current version of the USB driver. A number of people with Vista have had problems. There's a note on installing these drivers with a link on the main Parallax webpage "USB Driver Installer" and "For troubleshooting click here". Call Parallax Tech Support if you still can't get it to work under Vista.
