Starting with the Propeller Demo Board

Hi, I´ve received the Demo Board and print the Propeller Manual.· Then I´ve downloaded and installed the Propeller Tool without any problem. But when I connect the Demo Board using the USB cable to my PC and use the Identify Hardware option of the Tool, the program checks my serial ports (not the USB ones) and don´t detect any board connected...· I´m new with the Propeller and I´m sure I´m missing something but don´t know what.· Please let me know the steps to follow in order to load an example in my Demo Board and run it.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Yes, I connected a 9V DC regulated power supply and turn the switch on.· The board runs a demo program blinking the eight leds but·the Propeller Tool don´t detect it. I´m confused because the Propeller Tool program test the COM1 and COM2 ports but don´t say nothing about USB ports, but the Demo Board has a USB connector not a RS-232 one !

If the power supply is connected, have you set the slide switch to "ON"? There should be a green LED lit up right next to the power connector. Also, what version of Windows are you using? You need Win 2000 (SP4) or later.

The USB port looks like a serial port to the Propeller Tool. The USB drivers should have been installed when you installed the propeller tool but if they are not installed you might have to download and install the FTDI drivers from the Parallax download section. With the USB connected and the FTDI drivers installed, the Propeller tool should see a Com3 or Com4

Thank you very much for the help. The problem was the FTDI driver... Now the Propeller Tool detects my board on COM5.
Well, I can begin with my test now.
    Thanks again
