USB to Serial

So I have had the PEK for about a month now. Generally I've had a blast with it. One bit that is VERY frustrating is the USB port. I keep getting "No Propeller Chip Found" errors, I'll spend an hour rebooting and reinstalling blah blah blah.... And then suddenly it will work fine for the rest of the night. Then the next day comes and same thing happens. Hardware is found, blue light flashes, nothing loads. Seriously annoying.

This may be a Windows driver problem. What version of windows are you using?

Although I am now running Vista on my new laptop, I was running XP up until the beginning of March with no problems. Try the following:

Remove the propeller software and the FTDI driver from your computer.

Download and install the latest version of the FTDI driver. Make sure it is the latest version. There were some problems with an earlier version.

Download and install the latest version of the propeller tool. I am not aware of any problems with the propeller tool, but it does no harm to get the latest version.

Power up the PEK, plug it in to the computer and start the propeller tool.

Make sure you have the latest Prop Tool (v1.2.5, I think). Earlier versions are known to have that issue...

I have 1.2.5. Also I have the latest FTDI's. I only started a month ago so unless they have changed in the last month I should have the latest.

I would still try a complete removal and re-installation of the FTDI and prop tool. Also, make note of which com port is assigned to the prop. If you have a problem check the assigned com port to see if it has changed. I vaguely recall having some com port conflict when I first installed FTDI/prop tool and removing the old, downloading and reinstalling the latest cured it.

I'll try it. Are there any other development environments I could use that people would recommend or should I just stick with the tool and spin?

Uninstalled and reinstalled everything. Nothing. I get output showing up on the PST so I know its connected. Seems the Prop tool would be the problem.
