If you want to get your Parallax Oscilloscope (or Optoscope) to work under Linux, Like Ubuntu 8.10, do this:
Download VirtualBox [url]http://www.virtualbox.org/[url] and select your Linux OS. This is called the Host.
Follow the instructions. Install XP using your CD. This will be called the Guest. Now, install the oscilloscope software in XP.
After all is done, you will be able to switch between your Linux OS and the scope in a second, using your Desktop select window.
Much better than trying to use Wine. It has a port connect problem, which I have never solved.
