I finally got off my duff, got a propclip, and got started with my iMac conversion/mod. Original plan was to leave the crt in it, then once it died, add a Mac Mini, with large 3.5" desktop drives. After spending a day trying to make it work, got permission to throw in a lcd. No mac mini yet, but it will come later, with a KVM.

I figure it is a natural to convert, it has speakers, it has a mic.

The lcd screen, after being gutted, fit almost perfectly, with only a little cutting. The lcd screen uses 12v, so I'm thinking of powering it eventually off the mini's ps. This is just a 1st draft. It uses the original fan, and ac plug/socket.

No custom software on it yet, just one of the demos.

Warning!!!!!!!! There is two elements of danger due to high voltage here. One is household voltage, the other is the LCD lamp.

I figured it would be easier to program it that way.

What can I say. The 'structural' sticky tape, juxtaposed with the sea of discarded screws and fasteners across the bench. The proto board clinging to an alligator clip for dear life. The almost blasphemous disregard for Apple's clean design and 'finish'.

Gotta love it, well done. I can't wait to see what you tackle next...

Thanks! Still not done, even remotely yet. I just wanted to present the idea of the iMac as a propeller computer platform. Picked up a stereo mini audio amp kit today, to power the speakers. That should run off a 12v ps nicely.

Still haven't found my ps2 mouse/keyboard yet. It is around somewhere. Next task is to adapt the mic and speakers.

Anyone know off hand, will the propeller power a kvm, through the ps2 ports? Will have to test.

Eventually I'll be trying to polish it up.

There is pinouts, and converting cables to vga. I just wasn't successful in that regard.
