Dear all,

What is the maximum output current and voltage from a Basic Stamp 2 I/O pins?

Kindly advise

The Basic Stamp 2 uses a Microchip PIC16C56 microprocessor (ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/30453d.pdf). Like most devices, there's a datasheet from the manufacturer that gives detailed information about the characteristics of the device.

Page 67 gives the maximum current "sunk" into any I/O pin (from +5V) or "sourced" out of any I/O pin (to ground). It also gives the maximum range of input voltages that can be applied to any I/O pin. More voltage or more current than this will likely damage the device.

Page 71 gives the minimum output high voltage (Voh) and maximum output low voltage (Vol) for any I/O pin.
