BitTorrent a possibility?

The ethics aside and that some routers and NAS's now have built-in BitTorrents

It would be cool to have·dedicated BitTorrent with a Propeller + WIZ812MJ + 4GB SDcard

Someone would need to write a basic torrent program for the propeller, think·µTorrent

You can let the PropTorrent download overnight with very little electricity use.

Just wondering I like cool prop projects as much as the next guy but I don't understand, wouldn't it be better to just use a dedicated PC with a huge hard drive? please don't take this the wrong way
I am not knocking your idea I just don't understand it, why would a prop be a good idea for a P2P? again please don't take this the wrong way I just like to try and build some of the projects, well most of them that I can get my hands on
and if this is some good way to share files that I am not getting I would like to understand could you please elaborate?
    Thanks

The same way new NAS and Routers have built-in BitTorrents, you Set it and Forget it.
You can turn your computer off (saving electricity)

As my idea is to use a 4GB SD card to save the files on,
you would log in to the PropTorrent and move them over to your regular Hardrive when done
and then select a one or two new torrents to download.

if that is what you want look up drobo 4tb array with torrent capability. 4gb is just to small. there are many legal reasons to use torrents perfect example is downloading fedora core 3. red hat has it available for high speed download through torrents.

Need to make your prop design easier or secure? Get a PropMod has crystal, eeprom, and programing header in a 40 pin dip 0.7" pitch module with uSD reader, and RTC options.

Im loving your idea but lacking in knowledge in how to do it. It would be really cool to have a small box running of a 9V battery to carry with you that downloads torrents of wifi.
Have the torrent Client download torrents of a personalized RSS feed, so that you can add torrents to it from any computer. Now if you could combine this with a VLC like application and a VGA/composite output you might have one of the most wildly usable project on this forum.

other trouble is speed and ram. torrents can easily download at 5000 kbs especially the legal ones

and i am willing to buy if you can make with bigger drive. ram and access speed are most difficult.

    should implement pg2 also

You may be better off with a module like the NGW100
    www.atmel.com/dyn/products/tools_card.asp?tool_id=4102

It has everything you need out-of-the-box and SD card socket. It comes preinstalled with linux. I have one from its cousins very powerful. It runs at 140 MHz some 32 or 64 MB SDRAM.

While it may be possible to support bittorrent with the propeller using an ENC28J60 and some already available software, the bt part you will have to write it yourself, beyond the "I can do it" I do not see the benefit. But if it is your thing, go ahead, the prop amazes us everyday (have you seen Linus demo yet ? no ?, get it!).

I think it would take a lot to port something like that. The prop is a micro controller not a computer. Those NAS and routers are running small single board computers.

Hey tonyp12, when you say "set it and forget it, If I understand you mean set the box for what you want to gather/download say you want everything downloaded to do with heavy metal songs. Am I understanding this right guys?
So it would be a dedicated "Box" for lack of a better term for automatically downloading all the content in a given parameter whenever the"box detects it?? I understand the protocol to be P2P but trying to get my hands around application would this be
    analogous to nexislexsis?
