max length of parallel cable to lcd

How feasible is it to operate a parallel lcd through flat cable? I want to use about 12-18" inches of flat cable. Will I have to slow the speed down or use every other one to limit crosstalk?

Truthfully, trial and error will give you the best answer. However, we do have an LCD in a product at work that is on the front of a 19" chassis and the controller circuit is on the back. The LCD cable (standard 0.050" flat ribbon cable) is 26" long. I am not sure if they have ground lines running in between data lines to reduce crosstalk, but that is a typical method.

That is kind of what I figured. I wanted to bounce it off someone else.
