PULSOUT question

Theory says that the Parallax/Futaba continuous rotation servos must be pulsed at 1.3ms for full CW, 1.7ms for full CCW and 1.5ms to stand still.

That is the equivalent of PULSOUT pin, 650 / PULSOUT pin, 750 / PULSOUT pin, 850 with the standard BS2 2microsecond rule.

However, I've seen code that uses PULSOUT pin, 600 and PULSOUT pin, 900 to drive these servos - and even the servo manual (PDF on this site) says that.

Is this safe? Is this a mistake? Is this pushing the limits?

Thanks.

850 is the max and 650 is the min. This means that any pulse higher than 850 will make the servo go the same speed as if the pulse was 850, and the same is for less than 650. The only reason they tell you 600 and 900 (I think) is so the servo will act as expected even if you haven't centered it yet.
