It's Alive!
After a year or so of messing with my BS2 I finally took the plunge and bought the PE Kit.· Spent the afternoon wiring the bread board (good gosh I hope I never have to do that again!).· I checked, double checked, and triple checked the wiring, followed the instructions, loaded PushbuttonLedTest.spin and wouldn't you know........
It worked....

Program loads and runs both from·RAM·and EPROM
Of course I haven't the foggiest idea (yet) what dira, outa, ina, etc. mean, but it works and "I'm all in."
A few questions that might be addressed in the book:
Does it matter the order I hook up the Prop Plug and battery?·
Is SPIN case sensitive?· Is VariableName the same as VARIABLENAME?
After I complete the Lab Manual I'm very sure I will be reaching out for you folks.· Keep in mind I'm just a simple minded mechanical engineer.
Best Regards
Steve Woodrough·

Welcome aboard.
You will never regret your decision.
It is worth buying a PE Kit just to be able to work through the learning labs... what a hoot!!!
Trust me on this... forget the battery. Get a power supply kit from SpinStudio. You will eventually thank me.
It has a switch and LED indicator and it is worth it's weight in diamonds.

By now you will have figured out dira, outa, ina and clkfreq. Now it's time to start having fun... order a good sized collection of your favorite sensors (that Parallax offers and which are supported in the OBEX). By the time your stuff arrives, you will be almost done with the labs...
...then it is plug and play time. By playing with the sensors, you will get a great idea of where you want to go and you will become familiar with the most commonly used objects (which support everything else and which is the real world stuff you need to have at the tips of your fingers).
Finally, get Andre' LaMothe's book... it is completely misnamed...

It should be called the Propeller Bible. A great reference book... the only criticism of this book was that it is about 42,000 page paper back, which means that eventually the spine will give way to all of the bending.... so duct tape the cover straight out of the box. That way when it falls off, it will stay in one piece and you can hotglue it back on.

Welcome to the club. :) You are in for a great time!
Don't worry about the million things you don't know, enjoy the journey!
I've been playing with this thing for nearly three years and am still learning cool stuff to do with it.
Every time I start thinking I'm a slow learner, I remember that Chip spent many more years developing this thing. :)
