Difference in USB/Plain Propeller Proto boards

I just went to solder a toggle switch into my shiny new USB proto board to find that unlike the plain old proto board, the new USB variant does not have any plating in the large holes down the side of the board.

They are quite obviously shiny and gold on all my standard proto boards. I use them for solder anchor points and mounting and all sorts of bigger stuff stuff.
