Fluke Multimeter problems

Can anyone here explain to my why my good Fluke multimeter and not being so good anymore.

It is accurate, but extremely slow.·· What I mean is, for some unknown reason, when I test anything, resistance, voltage, mAh, anything at all, it takes forever to read. If I were to test a standard 1.5v duracell battery, it would read exactly 1.52vdc.· However it would start reading at .1 and slowly count up to 1.52 and by slow I mean it would take about 20 seconds to count all the way up to 1.52v

I have replaced the battery, done a full reset on it, it doesn't make sense.

Murphy. My Fluke 8080A wouldn't work today either. Though I must admit has been in use for a long time and worked very well all those years.

Have you checked the manual? You may have inadvertently·changed the resolution, sample rate or sample time. Increasing any of these variables would result in a more accurate reading but would take more time. I ran into this problem a few years ago and was able to reset the DMM by entering a specific set of keys. Contact Fluke if you are unsuccessful as their customer service is decent.

It's a fluke 87,· I'll take it apart again tonight and check fuses and look to see what else I can find in there as well.

If that does not work, send it back to Fluke. They replaced my 77 a few years ago.
It had just worn out after about 15 years of solid service.

Boy, I wish Fluke Canada would do that. Cost me $ 170.00 last time I took it in. The "KV" had rubbed off the secondary rating of the transformer I was checking.

Ouch! Not even a Fluke will like that! For what it is worth I have had a couple of Fluke 45's and handhelds for many years with no troubles.
Are Fluke Canada repairs handled through TestForce?
    Cheers!

Paul, It said Fluke on the paperwork and the building so I don't think it was TestForce. That was a few years ago so it could have changed by now. Also that 8080A was a very expensive state of the art meter when we bought it so the repair cost was much less than the meter was worth. Now I am trying to decide if it is worth fixing or if I am better off buying a new one.

Send them a real nice letter along with the meter. Talk about how you brag about what a great company Fluke is and that you've convinced a bunch of people to buy them because of their incredible customer support.
    Worked for me.
