1) Use a more meaningful subject for your message. You can change it by clicking on the pencil icon in the upper right hand corner of the first message.

2) This is a forum for support of Stamp microcontrollers. It's not for general questions. The closest to that is the Sandbox forum

3) Talk to your brother. If he disconnected or de-installed it, there must be a reason and he knows what he did.

If you really want to reconnect it and assuming he disconnected the cable inside, you can open your computer, look for the cable coming from the card reader. That cable should have a rectangular connector on it with 9 holes. Look on your motherboard for a group of pins labeled USB with 9 matching pins.· Plug that cable into that pin block.· Your computer should pick it up and recognize the card reader again.

I do agree with mike, it was probably disabled or disconnected for a reason and you should really ask him about it.

I think this is spam. I have seen random posts from different "people" with the same links at the bottom. Most have nothing to do with electronics/microcontrollers.

The admins have the ability to check the IP, I'm sure that will end shortly if it is spam.

Good to know, I've been using the sandbox for my relay board thread and been getting a lot of help with stuff I have no idea about (or at least had no idea about until here) and thought it was my turn to give something back.. Damn spammers. Why, Why, Why. What would be the point of posting random stuff here?

So that you get mad and say "who is this guy???" and then you go to their website to investigate who is posting such jibberish... Then you might accidentally buy some of their products.

I dislike that idea that it "takes all types" of people to make the world go 'round. Spammers are one we can do without.

I've had a few of these onmy own forum, and I usually first check where their website is hosted, and alert the hosting company what their customer is doing...
Then I give themaday or two to check it ut before I delete the user and posts.
(I of course disable the user immediately, and after deleteing, I disallow the name)

It may be useful to have the forum to automatically attach the meta-tag "NoFollow" to all links, both in posts and profiles.
That way search-engines will not follow them or even count them for ranking purposes.

That will stiffle the legit stuff. The stuff in my .sig is geared toward forum users.
It's nice to see Google pick it up and promote the information further still.

Is there a forum rule regarding .sig links yet? Perhaps something along the line of
it need to relate to the subjects at hand?

In fact it was SPAM as were the links that computer Geek posted. We're trying to stay on top of this and it helps when others report these messages to us. I left this thread for the educational value. =)

Actually, Gracey is a common name in China and surrounding areas. Even for business contacts I know a few from China that are named Gracey.

Chris, just curious, do alot of chinese have American sounding names, or do they just use an alias when dealing with Americans? I've dealt with a few Chinese when doing my PCB fabrication, and they have names like "John" or "Wendy"...

I have some Chinese friends and some do use a Westernized name for "convenience" although it's only "adopted" and not official in any way.

Mike, that sounds like what I thought. I'm sure it cuts down on alot of name confusion as we aren't use to something like "Jia'Ping". John is easier to remember. I was just curious. I mean, I hate to get off topic in such a thread!

It always seemed weird to me because common Chinese given names aren't complicated or difficult to pronounce. Indian last names, on the other hand... :)

· I once worked for a Chinese couple who owned a Tai Kwon Do do jang. I'm pretty sure their names weren't actually Michelle and Marvin. It used to surprise me how much English they would use while conversing in Chinese. My only exposure to a foreign language was the French I took in high school and I can't imagine trying to integrate that much English into French. There was a phone in the lounge area and a pretty common occurence was being in there when one of them was taking a call and if you weren't paying attention you might think they were speaking in english, but if you listened in you would realize that only every third or fourth word (I'm assuming) was English. Of course I don't know, but it struck me that Chinese must be an unusually flexible language if it allowed you to borrow from another language so easily.

I think a lot of names in chineese don't translate that well into english. I had a chineese friend about 9 years ago that I used to ride motorcycle with. Everyone of us in the group that rode together knew him as Freddy. Somehow he adopted that name because there weren't any of us that could pronounce his real name. He was in the Air Force and got stationed somewhere else a couple years later but everyone still refers to him by his american name, not Pung Tau Che or whatever his real name was.
