Mounting the Propeller and ESD: are all plastics created equal?

I notice that some of the enclosures for Propeller projects, etc. are often made from Acrylic. But what about Lexan, polycarbonate, etc.? I know some plastics generate static electricity fairly easily and this could be a problem for something like the Propeller. So which plastics are okay to use for mounting/enclosing projects and which are definite no-nos?

I'm guessing that mounting cat fur to Propellers is not a good idea. tongue.gif

I don't see how how static charges on an enclosure can affect a circuit mounted in it. Any charge would be on the outside, and would dissipate quickly. If the equipment meets the relevant ESD standards, there shouldn't be any problems.

Actually, I'm more concerned about what happens when I mount, say, a protoboard atop a plastic plate. If such a protoboard is mounted to, say, the inside "lid" an enclosure, what sort of ESD risks do I face when the enclosure is not complete?
