Prop sumobot board?

Howdy All,

I teach regular sumobot classes, using the Parallax BS2 sumos. I have been playing with a prop protoboard that I hacked up and made fit on a sumo chassis. I've got all the sensors and servos working, and am now playing with coding it up. My object is to make code logically identical to the BS2 code, in terms of process and layout of the code. I'm not going to use the BS2 functions to duplicate it, because I want to teach Spin, just make it dovetail with the BS2 sumo code and book and use as few fancy tricks as possible.

Anyhoo, has anyone made a PCB that fits on the sumo chassis? I *could* hack 7 more protoboards, but the thought makes me feel ill. It was fun to do once, but... Not only that, but I have an awesome group of homeschoolers doing BS2 sumo's right now, and if I got the boards in time we could go right into Prop bots once we finish with the BS2 version. These kids would make great test subjects for me to do a first prop sumobot class with.

As there is some prop sumo code out there, I was hoping that a board had been made. And if anyone else who is making or teaching prop sumobots wants to chat about it, PM me.

Thanks!

Jonathan

    Hi Jonathan & joy1,

I have designed one, but have not produced it yet, as I have been concentrating on RoboProp first (see my site, and also September/October issues of Servo <grin>)

It is basically a RoboProp without the DC Motor driver, so it is far more advanced than the BS2 board.

If I can get at least 50 pre-orders, I can have production boards in less than a month.

Price would depend on quantity ordered; and pricing would also depend on kit, assembled&tested through-hole, or if needed, assembled and tested SMT.

SumoProp is also 100% compatible with the software I am developing for RoboProp (oops! I let the name slip out!)

Please email me at "mikronauts at gmail dot com" so we can have a quantity/price discussion off forum.
