Commodore Monitor hook up to Propeller?

Hello,
I have just started familiarizing myself with the Propeller by working through the Propeller Education Kit labs. I am eager to get to the point where I can output to a Monitor/TV which brings me to my question. I have a Commodore Monitor, Model 1702, with Audio, Luma, and Chroma inputs, how would I hook up the Propeller to this monitor. One source said the the Luma and Chroma inputs were the same as SVIDEO.
It is a 1983 model and at one time I did have it hooked up to a VCR but it has been so long ago that I have forgotten how I did it.
Any help would be much appreciated.

A simple three resistor DAC will work. (Check the cookbook pdf below for the reversible video card.)
You can feed the output into the front of that monitor.

While you are at it, build a simple audio circuit and plug it in too.

    OBC,
Thanks for the quick reply. I guess my question now is which input on this monitor do I use for the video? Chroma, or Luma? My guess is Chroma (Color)?
    thanks,

Chroma should work.. You will also find an Svideo circuit in the Propeller Cookbook that
may be interesting as well. It isn't as standard, but I'll bet it would work.

I am using the same monitor. I just used the video input on the front, and set the switch in the rear to "Front".

OBC - Thanks for your help - your Cookbook is an excellent reference.

Brian - I think I got it now, Switch to front = composite, Switch to back = SVideo (Chroma & Lumina)

    Thanks a lot

Way back when it was new, I actually used one of those monitors as my TV. It blew regular TV's away for picture quality, if not size... anyway, it's now my Propeller display, and I'd advise you to forget that those connectors on the back even exist. On the front, you have an audio and a composite video RCA jack (sorry, it's not stereo). It just don't get much easier than that! In case you've forgotten, the volume knob is under that flip down panel at the bottom of the front, along with all the video adjustments. Flip that "Signal Select" switch on the back to "Front" and fugedaboutit. cool.gif
