I have been working with some of the latest and greatest VFD technology for the past 3 years. One of my newest designs is soon to be in an artical that I hope to post here soon. The company's products that I use is Yaskawa Electric. I recently got a great white paper that I wanted to share with everyone to get there heads spinning on new ways to drive e-motors.
The latest of Yaskawa's VFD can not only drive ACIM(induction motor) but PMSM(permanent magnet) too! In the same drive. Along with that they can achieve 200% torque at 0 rpm! A feat of engineering.
ADD: this is all sensor-less. No encoders here.
