Separate 5V power supply: Do I connect a common ground with super carrier board?

I am building a separate circuit board to interface to the BS2 super carrier board. The super carrier board is powered by the power supply I bought when I bought the Basic Stamp.
I intend to power the separate board with its own 5V power supply, e.g. this one: http://www.instructables.com/id/5V-breadboard-mini-PSU/
As I understand it, I need to connect Ground from the super carrier board to Ground on my separate circuit board, is that correct?
