Hi, i'm not sure which forum to post this in, but i just received an eb500 bluetooth module yesterday. I hooked it up and my computer detects it just fine. As of yet i have not tried to program it at all, but when i try to connect it, everything goes swimmingly, but then after i click ok on my bluetooth window, if i go back into it, the device is gone and the computer has no recolection of it ever being there. Does anybody have any advice?

Russ

How do you have your eb500 set up?· What type of power supply are you using and what type of voltage are you powering it up with?

You want to be careful when you are using your 12 volt supply, if it's not a regulated supply you can damage the eb500 if you connect to the Vin pin.· An unregulated 12v supply can read up to 17 volts which will damage the unit.·

It still does the same thing with the 9v battery. Also the bluetooth utility isn't showing me any services offered, shouldn't it say something about the virtual serial port?

Ok i somewhat solved my current problem. I misread steve norris's instructions in his eb500.spin, and had two pins reversed. The bluetooth started up and connected just fine. :)

    Russ,

The problem with power supplies can happen when you’re using an unregulated supply on such boards as the Board of Education where the voltage from your power supply is fed directly into the EB500. The EB500 can’t handle more than 12V max on its VIN pin. However in your circuit you are powering it from a regulated 5V source which is completely fine. I’m glad to see your connection issue was not related to power. Take care.
