My Propellar Protoboard just quiet communicating vis USB. All of the DC voltages (3.3 and 5.0) are present at the chip pins. Should I see a 5Hz clock signal at the X0 and X1 pins? I see nothing.
If you bring up "device manager" in windows, does unplugging/plugging in the board cause some activity?
Also, more the plug to a different USB board and see if Windows will redetect it.
Also, can you share a little more about the circuit, or is this a blank board?
The XI/XO pins are very sensitive to loading. If you attach an oscilloscope or logic analyzer there, you may prevent the oscillator from working. The crystal is not necessary for the Propeller to be able to identify itself to the PC or download a new program from either the PC or the EEPROM. Look for activity on pins 30 (data to PC) and 28 (EEPROM clock).
This has happened to me a few times... Sometimes, simply disconnecting the power, and the prop plug from the PC, waiting a few seconds, then plugging it all back in works fine. Other times, restarting the Prop Tool works, or a combo of the two. Simple fix, but sometimes it's not anything too complicated...
