If anyone is interested in a battery charge/dis-charge monitor, then take a look at this· Hall Sensor.·
http://www.melexis.com/prodfiles/0004758_MLX90215_Rev007.pdf
Get an iron powder toroid, about 1 inch diamater, cut a 1/16th groove to fit the sensor into,·wrap a few windings around the toroid and input that into a ADC.·
Measuring current with OP-AMPS thru a resistor introduces ground reference problemes.
This part delivers a voltage of 2.5 volts at zero current allowing·you monitor + and - currents.
Of course you'll have to do the math inside the BS.·
This part is available from Digikey: MLX90215 Hall Effect sonsor.
