FYI - You can get 12 VDC sealed Lead Acid Batteries rated for 6-10 amp Hours for Free.· Turns out that the fire alarms on many buildings require battery backup.· These batteries are replaced after three years just to be safe.··Just for asking·at one institution - got·10 batteries for free, and the electrician was happy to give them away so he didn't have to pay for disposal.· These batteries are perfect for mid-size to larger robots.·· Just·inquire·with·the maintenance·shop.· ·

    Ah, thanks for the information. I go to a large university, and I'm sure that they have lots of extra batteries. Is this in the US?

    When I used to service alarm systems we'd get through about 100 per month. We had a scrap dealer we used to sell them to who paid us by the KG. That was our months beer money, but I'd wager at least 50% of those batteries still had a good usable life for non critical applications. Try fire and safety electronics companies, but also security companies.
