My first PCB

I'm working on designing my first PCB using ExpressPCB software. I also want to try using the QFP package of the Propeller. I am wondering, first, if all of the Vdd and Vss pins are required to be connected (or is it at least a good idea), there are 4 pairs of them, seems a bit redundant; secondly, I have never soldered anything with pins as small as the QFP, and was wondering if it is that difficult. I have fine tip, variable temp, soldering iron, as well as liquid solder flux. I have a good amount of experience with soldering, and have seen some tutorials on it (seems doable). Also, how difficult would it be to teach someone who has very little soldering experience to do this?

2) It is a bit difficult to hand solder QFP parts, but you've got most of what's needed. Good vision, good lighting, perhaps a magnifying lens is helpful and a steady hand is necessary. Make sure you have some desoldering wick and take your time. Practice on some scraps.
They're pretty cheap and simple to breadboard, so they were easy to start with, and they require the same techniques to solder as the QFP prop does.· I didn't find it difficult at all, though my first attempt had one trace that didn't connect.· Easily found with a meter and corrected with the soldering iron.
